Weekly Update: 2/18 - 2/24
reflection
Had my last 9-5 teaching day this past Friday (until next term) and it feels nice to know that I get a few weeks off from being on for 8 hours straight. Slowly but surely I’m infusing more research time back into my schedule as prep for my online course winds down. I’m curious to see how prep for next term’s online class goes since I’ve taught it once before. Fingers crossed that it’s not as intensive as this term. I’m continuing to do a decent job at putting boundaries around work time, not letting it slip into personal/family time. On a lot of days this means that all the things I wanted to get done don’t actually get finished… which is okay because they’ll be there tomorrow and the next day and the next day. Started off the week pretty high energy and ended pretty low, a combination of ending the work week with an 8 hour teaching day mixed with multiple reminders from multiple people that life is short. Plus, we’re pretty sure Ellie is getting sick, so her mood has been a bit of a roller coaster lately with more meltdowns than usual.
research
Paper 1: My goals for the week were to finish up an intro outline draft, send it off to a co-author for initial review, and then send it off to another co-author. Goal met? Mostly done. I finished up the intro outline and sent it off, but didn’t get it off to the second person. I taught all day on Friday and overestimated my ability to send emails after being in the classroom all day!
Systematic review/interview project: My goals for the week were to brainstorm the contents/title for a feedback session with colleagues next week. Goal met? Yup.

Course prep (condensed research course): My goals for the week were to finalize materials and agenda for teaching this week, plus a few administrative things related to the course (e.g., emails). Goal met? Yes.
Course prep (online research course): My goals for the week were to create/finalize/upload week 9 videos, finalize week 8 content, do a final review of week 8 content before it went live, finalize week 9 content, post an update in the class announcements section, post grades for people that I couldn’t get to last week, and review/provide feedback for weekly activities. Goal met? All the things that were 100% necessary got done, had to leave a few things undone this week because there wasn’t a way to get them done without putting in longer hours or weekend work. I didn’t finalize week 9 content or get through all of the weekly activities, so these will happen next week. My brain was done with course prep by the time Thursday night hit, so I just let these final few things go.
Advising: A fair amount of administrative things going on this week, but was able to get most of them done.

Planning: My goal for the week was to have my weekly list ready to go. Goal met? Yup, list is ready to go. Didn’t do it until today (Sunday), this coming week I’ll aim to have it done by Friday afternoon.

Workouts: Nothing this week. We’ve been going to bed late, which stops me from carving out time in the morning to workout. By the time I’m done work for the day I don’t have the energy.
Toddler on the Tenure Track: Goal: Get 2 posts up on the blog. Goal met? Yup.
Meditation: Goal: 5 minutes every other day Goal met? Nope. Got two sessions in this week.
